Do you provide wardrobe boxes?

Yes, as leading Toronto movers we provide wardrobe boxes on the day of your move. So your clothes can be packed right out of your closet and unpacked at your new location. Firemen Movers uses the best plastic wardrobe boxes in the moving industry.

Can I leave things in the drawers?

We recommend that all drawers are empty and the items are packed in boxes. Many times, your dressers will have to be tipped on their sides to be manoeuvered properly, so it's best that all dressers are empty. Emptying the drawers also reduces the stress on the dressers themselves and helps prevent damage to the joints as many dressers (like those from IKEA, for example) are not made to be moved with loaded drawers. The drawers will be secured shut on the day of your move by the crew.

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture if needed?

Yes, we do disassemble and reassemble beds, desks, and other items. Please bring these items to the attention of your estimator (either over phone or in person) so that we can include the time required to accomplish these tasks in your estimate.

Do you disconnect and reconnect appliances and electrical fixtures?

We highly recommend that you bring these issues up with our estimator before your move so there are no issues with having items disconnected in a timely matter on your moving day. Firemen Movers can arrange for all of your disconnect and reconnect needs for appliances and electrical fixtures.

How does the Liability Coverage work?

Yes, we have liability coverage. As leading Toronto movers, our liability coverage is substantial and we have all of the necessary operating permits to provide our services. By default, on all of our moves we offer our Enhanced Liability Coverage provides $7.00 per pound in the event that an item is damaged beyond repair.

Our standard liability (which is provided free of charge) regarding your belongings is limited to sixty cents per pound per article, as mandated by the Ontario Government.

Can you provide references?

Definitely! Please check out Homestars.com for comments from previous customers.

How will the total charges be calculated?

The total cost of your relocation will be determined by actual time worked. We multiply hours worked, plus travel time, by your hourly rate provided to you by your move estimator. Please recognize that our estimated time for the completion of your move is just that, an educated estimate. As such, the actual time spent to relocate your belongings may differ from what we may have estimated.

The time starts once we arrive at your location, and stops when the job is completed at your new location. Travel time to and from our base will also be added to each move as a flat rate fee.

Depending on your requirements, additional charges may apply (such as fuel charges). However, these will be communicated in writing before the move so there are NO SURPRISES.

Firemen Movers cannot be responsible for delays due to traffic or inclement weather between origin and destination.

How do you charge for partial hours?

The last hour of your move will be billed in 15 minute increments.

How do I make payment?

We accept payment either in cash or by debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard) upon the completion of your move.

What happens if we have bad weather on move day?

Firemen Movers will complete the move and do its best to protect your belongings from rain, snow or mud. Please note that due to Workers Compensation and employee safety issues, all of our workers must wear CSA approved footwear at all times. Firemen Movers cannot be held responsible for soiled carpets or floors due to inclement weather but we do use runners and/or moving blankets to protect your carpets.

Do all of my boxes need to be sealed?

It is recommended that all boxes be closed and taped shut. For best results, all boxes should be as fully packed as possible as this increases their rigidity and prevents damage. Please identify fragile boxes clearly and make sure that all boxes are labelled correctly by room so that your move day is completed as efficiently as possible.

Start times?

Unless otherwise confirmed, morning or all-day jobs usually begin between 8:00-8:30am. Firemen Movers will work until whatever time is required to finish your move.

Is a deposit required?

We ask for a deposit to secure your move date and move rate. In the event you cancel or postpone your move within two weeks of the scheduled date, and we cannot secure another move, the deposit will not be refunded.
